Ashton Classic Cigar Review

In the 1970s, Robert Levin took over his father’s cigar retail shop in Philadelphia. By the 1980s, he was not just satisfied with importing and selling; he decided to craft a cigar he could call his own. The Ashton Classic made its debut in 1985; it has consistently maintained its quality and flavor.

The Connecticut shade wrapper is craftily bundled with 3 to 5-year-old Dominican binders and fillers. The product is creamy, nutty, and refined; the classic is one of the best mild cigars. The Ashton classic price, aroma, and flavor profiles make it the perfect entry into cigar smoking.

Toasting & Light: Hay, mellow earth.
Base flavors: Hay and citrus.

Ashton Cabinet Selection Cigar Review

In the 1980s, Robert Levin conceived the idea of an iconic cigar brand from his Philadelphia retail shop. He entrusted the building of his dream to the Fuente family in the Dominican Republic. Ashton is the brainchild of this union. They rose to be among the most revered premium cigar brands globally.

Nicknamed the “White Burgundy” of cigars, the Ashton Cabinet Cigar features long Dominican fillers and binders aged five to seven years. The Connecticut shade wrapper is aged for an extra year, giving it an attractive palomino appearance. This union results in a cigar with a smooth and creamy taste. The flavors are rich and creamy with an irresistible, vanilla-like sweetness, and the strength is mild to medium.

Country of Origin: Dominican Republic
Size: Belicoso (5 ¼” x 52)
Strength: Medium
Wrapper: Connecticut Shade
Filler/Binder: Dominican Republic

Construction and Overall Appearance: Delicate blonde Connecticut wrapper shows minimal veins; firmly packed, well made.
Draw: Excellent – nice and clear.
Pre-light flavor: Faint earthy barnyard, cedar and nuts.
Toasting & Light: A toasty start, with bread and tea.
Base flavors: Hay, salt, citrus, coffee, butter, toast.
Retrohale: Expect flowers and green herbs.
Aroma: A mellow, slightly floral aroma.
Burn / Ash Quality: Straight burn, ash is an evenly-colored, almost-white color – and very firm.
Balance of flavors: Excellent balance, where the flavors dovetail nicely.

Ashton Symmetry Cigar Review

Ashton cigars are no doubt one of the most renowned Dominican cigar brands. However, they do not release new cigars now and then, nor do they flood the market with half-baked cigars. So, when they do, you should expect the very best. If you’re interested in buying Ashton Symmetry cigars, read this review and learn more about the blend and price range.

Ashton cigars took eight years off producing a new cigar series in 2006; when they finally released one in 2014, it was the Ashton Symmetry line. The process of making these masterpieces took 4yrs of intense crafting.

The Ashton Symmetry can be read to be “Ashton Balance” because it is an excellently balanced cigar line. It is somewhat between the Ashton Cabinet line and Ashton VSG cigars line in terms of strength. It has all the greatness of Ashton cigars with one extra uniqueness – it contains Nicaragua tobaccos. This is the first of Ashton products to have Nicaraguan tobacco in them.

Ashton Symmetry line is elegantly wrapped in a silky reddish-brown and oily Ecuador Habano wrapper with uniquely blended Dominican binders and Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. It offers notes of wood, spices, earth, cedar, and cream.

Country of Origin: Dominican Republic
Size: 5″ x 50, Soft box-pressed
Strength: Medium-Full
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Filler: Dominican Republic, Nicaragua
Binder: Dominican Republic

Construction/Appearance: Very firm; maybe too firm. Wrapper is beautiful with a semi-gloss, milk-chocolate hue and a very silky feel. At the foot, the darkest tobacco is at the exact center of the roll.
Draw: Good. Would have liked it to be a little more open, but it didn’t present any serious issues; just the luck of my particular sample.
Pre-light: Raisin, nutmeg.
First few puffs: Cedar, coffee bean, and light pepper.
Burn: Excellent.
Aroma: Sweet and spicy.
Base Flavors (in order of appearance): Cedar, sweet tobacco, allspice, coffee bean.
Balance: Perfect.
